2 Myths about Hand Sanitizer Dispensers

Hygahand
On a daily basis, you come into contact with several items that have been touched by numerous people. This frequent contact spreads germs which cause sickness, especially during flu season. Hand sanitizer dispensers are one of the quickest ways to remove germs from your hands, but some people are skeptical due to certain misconceptions.  There are many misconceptions about hand hygiene, but the following are 2 myths about hand sanitizer dispensers that stand out.

Myth:  Hand sanitizer dispensers create drug-resistant mutant bacteria .
Fact: If alcohol is the main ingredient, the germs will not stand a chance.  Alcohol physically kills germs and there is no evidence that supports the theory that germs mutate to supersede the effects of hand sanitizer. In fact, alcohol-based hand sanitizers have been shown to kill even multi-drug resistant pathogens. With WellBeing’s touch-free hand sanitizer dispenser, 99.99% of germs will be killed on contact. WellBeing’s sanitizer solution contains 67% Ethyl Alcohol, which is effective against E. Coli, MSRA, and Strep in just 15 seconds.

Myth: All hand sanitizer dispensers are the same.
Fact: Despite popular assumption, not all hand sanitizer dispensers are created equal. Some require actual contact to release sanitizer while others are hands-free. When people want to get their hands clean, the last thing they want is to touch a dirty dispenser. With WellBeing’s touch free hand sanitizer dispenser, there’s nothing to touch- simply wave your hand underneath and a drop of sanitizer will land in your hand. WellBeing’s touch-free dispensers take both gel or foam sanitizer and contains zero thickeners that can attract and promote the growth of bacteria on your skin. Unlike most dispensers, WellBeing’s dispensers are drip resistant and meet CDC, APIC and OSHA standards. While regular dispensers don’t require battery operation like touch-free dispensers do, WellBeing provides batteries for no additional charge.

Debunking the myths about hand sanitizer dispensers is important because it relates directly to our health. Hand sanitizer dispensers are great for offices, schools and medical facilities.  It can even increase productivity in the office environment due to less sickness outbreaks.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to provide a clean and healthy environment for yourself and the people around you. If you are looking for more ways to incorporate touch free technology, keeping healthy with touch-free soap dispensing is just as easy to use and provide overwhelming sanitation benefits as well.

Common Myths about Feminine Hygiene Disposal

Feminine Hygiene Vending
Myths and outdated practices regarding feminine hygiene continue to influence many women today. While some are disregarded as unlikely there are a few myths that still remain persuasive. The disposal of feminine hygiene waste at first glance might seem to be an unimportant issue since waste management is not often on the forefront of many people’s minds. Nonetheless, feminine hygiene disposal is quite important and if not handled correctly could cause harm to others.

There's long been desire for something other than simply flushing feminine hygiene products down the toilet or placing it in a waste bin. A clean safe system where such waste can be disposed of easily and where people know that health, social and environmental concerns have been dealt with. The following are some myths about feminine hygiene disposal that many women have become accustomed to.
  • It’s fine to place feminine hygiene products in any waste bin if you wrap it. This statement is simply not true. There are special units for feminine product disposal that are separate from the regular trash because of the possibly hazardous nature of feminine hygiene products. If you are using a women's restroom, be sure to use the right receptacle for sanitary disposal. For the safest disposal, touch-free feminine hygiene disposal service is the best.
  •
  • You can flush feminine hygiene products down the toilet if the label says so. While there are new products on the market today with applicators that are made of materials designed to break down in heavy water. This doesn’t mean that septic systems are meant to handle the excess as most are partially biodegradable at best.  In addition to causing costly damages to your plumbing system, flushing tampons or sanitary napkins can pollute streams and rivers, cause hormonal changes in wildlife and enable harmful organisms to enter the food chain.

  • When disposing, you don’t have to worry about bacteria since the feminine hygiene products are labeled “sanitary”. Although they are sanitary when first used, feminine hygiene products become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria or germs when it comes time to dispose of them because of the length of time they are used.  Over the years, various treatments have been applied to combat the growth of harmful bacteria, reduce odors while in use, and keep sanitary napkins more hygienic, but they compromised comfort and caused irritation in many cases. This is why sanitary disposal must be taken seriously and handled properly.
It’s important to understand the myths about feminine hygiene disposal so you can ensure the right rules are being following when disposing of your hygienic materials. Making a mistake could cost you money, cause you or someone else to become ill and lead to a very embarrassing situation.

WellBeing Partners with Dyson Airblade

We are proud to announce a new hand dryer partnership with Dyson’s Airblade.  Working in just 12 seconds, it's the fastest hand dryer – and it's hygienic, too, forcing air through a HEPA filter before blowing it onto hands. And because it uses up to 80% less energy than warm air hand dryers, it costs less to run. It can also help lower a business's carbon footprint - with no paper towels creating waste.

Dyson has a worldwide reputation for establishing innovative equipment for use at home or in industry and commerce; most people would be familiar with television advertising of the Dyson vacuum cleaner.  In recent times, Dyson has been working with product engineers to create brand new concepts and designs for long established household products,  in addition to the release of their modern electric fan.

WellBeing has signed an agreement to become the only official distributor that provides a full-service lease option.  Current WellBeing clients are now offered a better alternative to cut paper costs as well as do away with warm hand dryers that are too slow and unhygienic.  Warm air hand dryers are too slow. Some can take as long as 43 seconds to work. It's because of their motors. They can't create enough airflow to remove water from hands effectively. They're also unhygienic, sucking in dirty washroom air and blowing it back onto hands. And they still heat the air – which is expensive and not very green.

Dyson has conducted many case studies which demonstrate both the health and cost benefits of the Airblade.  WellBeing Hygiene's program will also benefit your budget during tough financial times!  Through our full-service leasing program, your facility will no longer have to budget the outright purchase of a Dyson Airblade as a capital expense, therefore allowing you to realize a substantial Return on Investment starting on Day 1.  Contact us to receive a complimentary savings analysis.

How to Lower Costs with Touch Free Restroom Technologies

With today’s unpredictable economy, it’s no surprise why people are searching for ways to lower their costs wherever they can. Because facilities are constantly working within budget constraints, hands-free technology should be considered as a viable solution to reducing waste and cutting costs. Despite the popular belief that new technology means more money, using touch-free technology can actually lower costs in the long run compared to traditional applications and fixtures.

Touch-free Technologies
Although there is an initial cost associated with purchasing touch-free technologies, the ROI makes it a smart investment in the long run. In addition, touch-free technologies have less maintenance costs that are often apparent with traditional manual applications such as:

  • Replacing materials that are running out or ruined (accidentally, because of vandalism, or because of aging).
  • Money loss caused by overuse and inefficiency: It’s inevitable that products will become old and run down. This will cause them to become inefficient, waste energy, and lose money.
  • Plumbers and other professionals needed for upkeep: Because hands-free appliances work mostly off a motion sensor, they require less maintenance due to reduced unnecessary usage.

Cost-effective touch-free items

Automatic Flushers
Traditional manual flushers run the risk of getting beat up and becoming inefficient, therefore requiring immediate replacement. Technicians can easily install new hands-free, sensor-operated flushers to existing fixtures. These units are battery-operated and require battery changes only once a year.

Automatic Faucets
With touch-free faucets, the water runs only when needed which results in water savings of up to 70 percent. This not only conserves precious resources, but it also reduces costs.

Mounted Soap Dispensers
A lot of people, especially children, use way too much soap/ sanitizer when washing their hands. In order to combat this, touch-free soap/sanitizer dispensers release the ideal amount of soup necessary for proper hand sanitation and cleansing creating less waste and ultimately less costs.

Hand dryers
With hand dryers, there is no need to buy towels to refill dispensers, and the unit is always ready to perform — there’s no chance of paper towel run-outs. In addition, paper towels are a lifetime cost.  Plus, facilities spend more money on waste pickup due to the buildup of paper towel trash.

Health concerns are no longer the only thing driving the demand for touch-free technology.  Although "germ prevention" is a major benefit, more and more people are beginning to see the cost benefits related to touch-free appliances as well. With the consistent growth in this area of technology, we can only expect to see more improvements and even better cost savings in the future.

What is the Sneeze Effect?

The "sneeze effect" in toilets is something that often goes overlooked.  When you flush your toilet, your toilet spews plumes of bacteria, moisture and viruses in the air.  These particles can land on your bathroom surfaces (or you) up to eight feet.  Simply putting your toilet seat and cover down will not prevent the spread of these bathroom germs.  Make sure you keep your toothbrush and other items that need to be kept sanitary away from your toilet for optimal sanitation.

Below are things you can do to help maintain a clean environment around your toilet.
  • Put the toilet seat and cover down prior to flushing to buy some extra time to leave the area around your toilet.
  • Clean your toilet regularly and after it has been vomited in or after a user had diarrhea.
  • Clean thoroughly.  Be sure to clean under the rim of your toilet bowl in those “hard to reach” areas including the bottom side of your toilet seat.
  • Clean the ceilings and walls around the toilet.  Those areas can be impacted too.

Automatic Cleaning Service

Automatic Flush and Cleaning Systems ensure that urinals and toilets are always clean, odor and bacteria free, and presentable. A clean restroom means your customers and employees alike have a better chance at staying healthy when visiting your commercial restroom facility.  View our automatic cleaning solutions and start promoting a healthy restroom environment for your employees and guests today.
